SLEEP DATA TRACKING

Over the past two years, I have recorded my sleep cycles using my Apple Watch, which has provided insights into my sleep patterns. On average, I get 7 hours and 30 minutes of sleep per night, with an extra hour on weekends. My sleep schedule was more consistent when I worked a full-time 8 AM–5 PM job from 2022 to 2023 compared to my current routine as a full-time student. During my work period, I experienced fewer night disturbances and more core and deep sleep, as indicated by the data's visualizations.
Since returning to school, my sleep patterns have become more irregular, influenced by factors such as night classes on Thursdays, increased stress, and reduced physical fitness. Interestingly, while I take 30-minute naps throughout the week, these are not reflected in the data, which primarily tracks overnight sleep. My analysis highlights that I perform better when I have longer, uninterrupted sleep cycles, reinforcing the importance of maintaining a consistent and restorative sleep schedule.

Red means awake: “It takes time to fall asleep and we wake up periodically throughout the night. This time is represented as "Awake" in your charts(Apple Inc. 2024).”
Light Blue refers to REM: “Studies show that REM sleep may play a key role in memory and refreshing your brain. It's where most of your dreaming happens. Your eyes will also move side to side. REM sleep first occurs about 90 minutes after falling asleep(Apple Inc. 2024).”
Cyan Blue refers to Core sleep: “This stage, where muscle activity lowers and body temperature drops, represents the bulk of your time asleep. While it's sometimes referred to as light sleep, it's just as critical as any other sleep stage(Apple Inc. 2024).”
Navy/Dark Blue Refers to Deep: “Also known as slow wave sleep, this stage allows the body to repair itself and release essential hormones. It happens in longer periods during the first half of the night. It's often difficult to wake up from deep sleep because you're so relaxed(Apple Inc. 2024).”

Communication Barriers Project
While this team presentation had its challenges, it was a valuable learning experience. There were moments where we demonstrated a good understanding of the material, but there were also areas for improvement. Ultimately, the lack of coordination impacted our overall performance. Initially, we had a solid grasp of the project, which gave us a sense of confidence; however, this led to complacency in ensuring our work was cohesive. In hindsight, more time spent aligning our ideas and refining transitions could have helped avoid the choppy flow of the presentation.
One area where I could have contributed more effectively was by providing my team with concise and clear information. Toward the end, I became uncertain about whether we were meeting the professor’s expectations, which led me to pivot in a different direction just days before the presentation. Although this last-minute adjustment created challenges, the experience highlighted the importance of clarity, preparation, and teamwork—lessons I’ll take forward in future projects.

Email Activity
This activity was integral to the workplace environment and gave me the opportunity to demonstrate my feedback skills. Initially, I reviewed the email that had been "sent to us," which was full of run-on sentences and invalid information. Although it took time to go through, I was able to extract key details related to Ms. Shi’s main message. Throughout this process, I provided constructive and positive feedback to enhance her message, ensuring I remained respectful and professional despite her numerous errors. This project helped me recognize the informality of many business messages and how frequently they are sent. The knowledge I gained has allowed me to develop a framework for crafting business messages with a clearer and more effective meta-message.
In this document, you can read through my email response and revised email to the fictional supervisor(Ms. Shi).

PEER REVIEW
Through peer review, I have engaged in both reviewing and being reviewed by my classmates. While analyzing my peers' work, I had the opportunity to share my knowledge on the email activity and data entry project, offering constructive feedback to help improve their outcomes. At the same time, receiving feedback on my own work allowed me to identify areas for growth and refine my approach. This mutual exchange enhanced my understanding of the tasks and fostered collaboration within the class.
